This 2-day course is planned for colorectal surgeons with advanced experience in laparoscopic TME and transanal rectal surgery and it is limited to 8 participants. The didactic sessions on day 1 will focus on the rationale for taTME, indications and patient selection, a concept for a „stepwise approach“ to the technique and an overview of common pitfalls. Lectures, videosessions and hands-on-training in human cadavers will be provided by expert national and international faculty. We would encourage surgeons to sign up in teams for the course (2 surgeons + 1 or 2 scrub nurses)! There will also be lectures specifically for the theatre staff and they will also be able to join in for the practical sessions. Port placement (GelPOINT Path Transanal Access Platform + TEO platform) and the surgical technique of the procedure will be trained (2 participants +/- nurse with 1 instructor at each cadaver). On day 2 all participants will be able to observe live surgery in the OR.
We offer also „proctoring“ your first taTMEs at your own hospital. Let us know how we can help you establishing the new tecnique in your department.
